CapRock Communications, a leading provider of global satellite communications, today announced that it has appointed Douglas Tutt as president of Global Energy Markets. Tutt moves into this role from his former position as managing director of CapRock’s South American Operations where he was responsible for establishing and subsequently managing the company’s operations in Central and South America. The creation of this new position represents a significant step in CapRock’s initiative to further align the company around the vertical markets it serves. As president of Global Energy Markets, Tutt will manage CapRock’s energy business worldwide, building even stronger relationships and coordination with customers operating in multiple regions around the world.
“Since joining CapRock, Doug has played a tremendous role in supporting CapRock’s global growth strategy,” said CapRock CEO Peter Shaper. “His leadership skills, combined with the customer relationships he has built, have extended CapRock’s reputation as a reliable satellite communications provider throughout Central and South America. By aligning the energy team under the president of Global Energy Markets, CapRock will become even closer to the needs of its worldwide energy customers.”
Prior to joining CapRock, Tutt was an independent financial advisor assisting companies in strategic planning and fundraising activities. Additionally, Tutt served as vice president for LatinTech Capital, a venture capital company, where he co-led the origination, underwriting and structuring efforts for a $50 million investment company targeting technology companies. Prior to LatinTech Capital, Tutt worked for General Electric Capital’s private equity division, where he held a series of progressively responsible assignments in Central Europe and South America.
“The energy industry will continue to expand worldwide, moving further into new regions of exploration and production,” continued Shaper. “The development of the president of Global Energy Markets role further positions CapRock to respond to customers’ global communication requirements. Regardless of where customers’ remote sites are located around the world, they can count on CapRock to deliver reliable services day in and day out. We congratulate Doug on his new position and look forward to his continued success and service to energy customers.”
