Offshore service vessels to be equipped with SeaAccess Communications™
NOR Offshore Ltd., a leading provider of Anchor Handling Tug Supply and Construction Support vessels to the oil and gas industry, has chosen to deploy SeaAccess Communications ™ onboard nine of its vessels. SeaAccess will provide NOR Offshore with business-class communications, enhancing operational efficiency and enabling crew communication services. Under the three-year agreement, CapRock will provide a total managed solution, including equipment and installation, broadband service and maintenance and support that includes 24/7 help desk access. The service includes always-on connectivity for a fixed monthly price. Prior to choosing SeaAccess, communications between regional offices and the ships relied on metered services that often resulted in high costs.
With SeaAccess, captains will have unlimited access to Voice over IP (VoIP), the corporate network and the Internet. NOR Offshore also will be able to monitor the vessels' onboard IT systems from shore, providing remote diagnostics and support. Additionally, the company will leverage SeaAccess to provide enhanced crew communication services. The crew will be able to access the Internet, send and receive emails and make telephone calls by using calling cards.
“Providing crew communication services that help us retain qualified crews is a top priority for us,” said NOR Offshore Operations Manager, Eirik Thorseth. “SeaAccess will enable us to do so and will help the crew stay connected with family and friends while offshore.”
The vessels serve the Asia-Pacific and Australasian markets, specifically the needs of large oil and gas exploration, development and production companies as well as contractors to these companies.
“When looking for a VSAT provider, we need a company with a strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region,” continued Thorseth. “We chose CapRock because of its infrastructure and support in the region, combined with its long history in delivering reliable VSAT communications.”
“We continue to see a growing demand for VSAT services from the maritime industry operating in Asia ,” said CapRock's Vice President of Sales, Maritime Division, Pal Jensen. “We are delighted that NOR Offshore has put its trust in CapRock to deliver reliable communications to its vessels that provide critical services to the energy industry. We look forward to serving NOR Offshore's needs and further developing our relationship.”
