CapRock Government Solutions announced today that it has expanded coverage on its pre-packaged satellite subscription service, CommandAccess™ with the finalization of its commercial X-band network with military-grade features for secure voice, video and data communications.
Service on the government only frequency will create new communications options for field deployed government agencies, offering unique features including a network built on military hardened satellites that is fully MAC I compliant, with optional connections to secure private networks. The service supports Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) certified terminals and enables customers to utilize existing remote field equipment or approved commercial satellite equipment on the CapRock network.
In addition to military-grade features, CommandAccess also offers service level assurances (SLAs) not available from other commercial subscription services. Most pre-package satellite communications services only disclose an “up to” speed, with actual performance often falling short of advertised data rates. By contrast, CommandAccess is the only portable satellite subscription service to offer Minimum Service Levels that guarantee the user’s actual connection speed. CommandAccess is offered as a flat fee service, compared with most satellite services that charge a “per minute” or “per megabyte” fee of several dollars per transmission.
“Even customers who only use their satellite service for a few minutes per day will see significant improvements in performance and operational costs by switching to CommandAccess,” said CapRock Government Solutions EVP and General Manager, David Myers. “We designed the network with ‘plug and play anywhere’ capabilities to provide our customers with the unsurpassed flexibility and survivability that their missions require.”
CapRock’s Ku- and C-band networks went on line earlier this year to support U.S. government customers with a number of mission-critical operations including disaster recovery efforts in Haiti, and counterterrorism and foreign policy missions. CommandAccess was unveiled just three months ago as the industry’s first military-grade commercial satellite subscription service. The suite of pre-packaged and customized communications solutions connects very small aperture terminals (VSATs) to the Internet, public switched telephone network (PSTN), and secure government networks.
CapRock experts will be on hand in booth 811 at the SATELLITE 2010 Conference from March 16-18 at the Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland to discuss how the commercial-off-the-shelf service has enabled improved real-time situational awareness, intelligence gathering and tactical decision making for deployed field personnel.
